The plants are cut near ground level by the sickle (like a huge hair clipper) and brought up the conveyer (front) into a thrasher which shakes them to make the tomatoes fall onto another conveyer. The tomatoes are sorted by workers for ripeness and then brought on another conveyer to fall into a trailer which is pulled alongside by a tractor. The ultrasonic measurement is underneath the front conveyer. The control box, containing the electronics, is just behind me standing in front.
